Music & Art
Music and Art are integral parts of the Carden experience, giving children space to express
themselves and discover their creative voices. Both subjects allow children to explore
creativity and imagination while developing an appreciation for beauty and culture.
In music, students learn to read and play instruments, study rhythm and notation, and explore
vocal performance through songs, choral work, and recitations. Beginning in the early grades,
they experience music as both a language and an art form learning that melody, harmony, and
tempo tell stories all their own. Students gain confidence performing in front of an audience
during school concerts, assemblies, and special events, celebrating both individual growth
and shared achievement.
Art instruction provides a complementary avenue for creative discovery. Through drawing,
painting, sculpting, and mixed-media projects, students learn technique while also developing
their own artistic style. Each lesson blends skill-building with imagination, encouraging
students to observe the world closely, think creatively, and express what they see and feel.
Weekly art appreciation lessons expose them to masterpieces from across cultures and eras,
teaching them to analyze composition, color, and emotion and to see art as a reflection of
history, culture, and the human experience.
