Pick-Up & Drop-Off
Carden Conejo School is fortunate to have two separate pick-up and drop-off areas. Because of the short
time frame in which many cars and children are moving in close proximity to each other, attention and
adherence to the process is essential. Please arrive on time and ready to drop children off by 8:15am.
Students will be marked tardy starting at 8:20am. It is important to remember that when a child is
consistently delivered to school on time, you are setting a standard for their work habits in the future. A
punctual arrival will give them the opportunity to put away their belongings and ready themselves to
participate with a calm mind in the first lessons of the day, which begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. The office
records tardy arrivals and absences on a student’s record. If a student is tardy, parents must come to the
front office to sign in.
If your child is leaving campus with another Carden parent, family member, nanny, etc. that does not have a
SchoolSafeID that matches your family’s account, you must notify the front office in advance of pick-up time.
Carden staff must ensure that each child leaves with the appropriate adult.
All cars must enter through the main gates of school, near the guard shack. Do not tailgate the car in front of
you. Carden Conejo School is not responsible for damage to vehicles from the security gate arms. Cars will
not be permitted to enter through the gate closest to Moorpark Road. Parents should hang their
SchoolSafeID’s on their rearview mirror at all times. This allows our security staff to know that you are a
vetted member of the Carden community and also allows the afternoon loading process to run more
efficiently.
Each morning and afternoon, Carden teachers and staff will be present to engage in an important ritual, the
morning greeting and handshake, which are exchanged when each child emerges from or enters a car.
Upper Lot Pick-Up/Drop Off (Rolling Car Line Only - No Parking)
To drop-off and pick-up at the Upper Lot, please pull onto campus and turn left at the guard shack. The line
of cars should be parked against the right side of the driveway and stop at the top of the hill until instructed
to move by a staff member. For afternoon pickup, SchoolSafeID’s should be visible on the rearview mirror this allows staff to get children to the curb in a more efficient fashion. Once instructed to go, cars will make
two sharp right turns and head towards the Carden Conejo School sign. Cars will then form a line near the
cones, where students will enter/exit the car. To ensure safety and a steady flow of traffic, please do not
park your car and walk up to retrieve your children. This may seem to speed up the process for you, but it
creates considerable confusion in releasing the students to the proper adults and is impolite to those waiting
in line. Under no circumstance, may cars cut each other in line. Once children are picked up or dropped off,
all cars must exit through the exit gate (the gate closest to Moorpark Road).
Lower Lot Pick-Up/Drop Off (Park & Walk Only - No Rolling Drop-Off/Pick-Ups)
To drop-off and pick-up at the Lower Lot, please pull on to campus and turn right at the guard shack. Cars
should park in a parking spot and walk up the ramp by the baseball field. Please set a good example for your
children and only park in the handicap stalls if you have an approved handicap placard. If you are parked in a
handicap spot without an official placard, you will be asked to move your car. If parking in the lower lot,
please drive at slow pace to ensure the safety of other students and parents. Follow all parking signs and
cone formations.
