Special Events, Celebrations, & School Gatherings
School Performances, Assemblies & Public Events
School performances, athletic events, exhibitions, and assemblies are community gatherings designed to
celebrate student growth and achievement. All attendees—including parents, family members, and guests
—are expected to demonstrate respectful conduct at all times. Disruptive behavior, inappropriate
commentary, interference with staff supervision, unauthorized recording, or violation of campus policies may
result in removal from the event and potential restriction of future attendance. Professional conduct is
expected from all spectators. School events are extensions of the educational environment.
Class Plays & Receptions
Class plays and grade-level performances are a meaningful opportunity for students to build confidence,
public speaking skills, collaboration, and stage presence. These performances are educational in nature and
are considered an extension of the instructional program. All students are expected to participate
respectfully and fulfill their assigned roles. Receptions or light refreshments following performances, when
offered, are intended to be community-building gatherings and must align with school guidelines regarding
food safety, supervision, and decorum. Families are expected to demonstrate respectful audience behavior
during performances and to support event logistics as directed by faculty and staff.
Parent Participation at Events
Parent participation is welcomed when invited or approved; however, all campus access and visitor
procedures remain in effect. Parents may not enter classrooms, backstage areas, locker rooms, or restricted
spaces unless explicitly authorized. Parents are expected to support faculty direction and event logistics.
Attempts to independently manage students, override supervision decisions, or alter event procedures may
result in restricted participation privileges.
Food, Allergies & Safety
The School reserves the right to restrict or prohibit certain food items at events to protect student health
and safety. Families must adhere to posted allergy guidelines and classroom restrictions. The School may
limit the types of food served or require pre-approval for any food distributed to students. Student safety
supersedes celebration preferences.
Social Media & Recording at Events
Out of respect for student privacy and safety, families are expected to use discretion when photographing or
recording students at school events.
Administrative Authority
The Head of School retains final authority over all special events and may modify, restrict, or cancel any
celebration, gathering, or event if it is deemed inconsistent with the School’s mission, safety standards, or
community expectations. Special events are intended to strengthen the Carden Conejo School community.
They must reflect our shared commitment to respect, balance, inclusivity, and educational purpose.
