Zero Tolerance: Drugs & Prohibited Substances
Carden Conejo School is committed to providing a healthy, safe, and drug-free environment for all students.
The use, possession, sale, or distribution of alcohol, drugs, vaping devices, or other controlled substances is
strictly prohibited. Substance use undermines student well-being, compromises safety, and is inconsistent
with the values and standards of our School community.
Alcohol, Drugs & Controlled Substances
The possession, use, sale, distribution, or being under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, controlled
substances, or unauthorized medications is strictly prohibited. This prohibition applies:
On campus
During School-sponsored events
On field trips
During athletic competitions
At any time a student is representing the School
Prohibited substances include, but are not limited to:
Alcohol
Marijuana (including edibles)
Controlled prescription medications not prescribed to the student
Illicit drugs of any kind
Synthetic drugs
Drug paraphernalia
Vaping & Tobacco Products
The possession or use of vaping devices, e-cigarettes, tobacco products, nicotine pouches, cartridges, or
related paraphernalia is strictly prohibited.
This includes:
Disposable or refillable vape devices
Nicotine or THC cartridges
Vape pens or modified devices
Any electronic smoking device
Lighters used in connection with such devices
The School reserves the right to test substances or devices if necessary to determine whether prohibited
materials are present.
Consequences
Any violation of this Zero Tolerance Policy may result in:
Immediate removal from campus
Parent notification
Suspension pending investigation
Behavioral probation
Mandatory counseling or substance evaluation
Loss of extracurricular or leadership privileges
Dismissal from the School
Notification of law enforcement when appropriate
The School reserves sole discretion in determining appropriate consequences based on the severity of the
violation, the student’s age, intent, prior conduct, and impact on the community. The School may accelerate
consequences without prior progressive discipline when safety is involved.
