Mathematics
Carden Conejo’s Middle School math program follows the Singapore Math progression, developing
conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and mathematical reasoning. Students advance
through pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry, data analysis, and probability as they connect
mathematical concepts to real-world applications which then empowers students to think
mathematically, both inside and outside the classroom.
Metacognition: Developing self-awareness in thinking and learning; students learn to reflect on
their problem-solving strategies.
Process: Emphasizing reasoning, communication, and real-world application through modeling
and connection across topics.
Concepts: Exploring numerical, algebraic, geometric, statistical, and analytical relationships.
Skills: Strengthening calculation, algebraic manipulation, spatial visualization, data analysis,
measurement, estimation, and use of mathematical tools.
Attitudes: Building perseverance, confidence, curiosity, and an appreciation for mathematics.
Instructional Approach: Students learn through activity-based lessons, direct instruction, and
teacher-led inquiry, blending guided discovery with structured practice.
