Advisory & Life Skills
At the heart of the Carden Conejo Middle School
experience is the Advisory Program - a weekly anchor
that nurtures both academic and social emotional
growth. Students meet in small groups led by faculty
mentors who guide them through reflection, goalsetting, and meaningful conversation. Across the
three years, Advisory evolves from guided mentorship
to student-led initiatives. Topics covered will include
digital literacy and safety, foundations of
organization and study skills, positive relationships,
executive functioning, financial literacy, leadership
development, time management, goal setting, and
community service.
Servant Leadership
senotsrenroC
True leadership incorporates service to our greater
community. Our Servant Leadership Program is a
defining part of the Middle School experience,
teaching students that compassion, responsibility, and
making a positive difference in the world is essential.
Each student will complete mandatory community
service hours (10 hours in 6th Grade, 15 hours in 7th
Grade, and 20 hours in 8th Grade). Overseen by each
Faculty Advisor, students will make meaningful
partnerships with local organizations. Students will
learn to lead with empathy, take initiative, and
understand their role in strengthening the community
around them.
Project-Based Learning
Learning at Carden goes beyond textbooks. Students
will apply their knowledge through hands-on, projectbased learning experiences that encourage creativity,
problem-solving, and collaboration. Whether
designing museum exhibits, producing podcasts, or
building engineering prototypes, students learn to
connect classroom concepts to the real world.
Capstone Project
The Capstone Project is the culmination of the Carden
Middle School journey. Eighth Graders research a topic
of personal significance, apply skills from multiple
disciplines, and present their findings to the school
community. The process fosters independence and
public speaking and empowers students to see
themselves as capable and confident students
prepared for High School and beyond.
